freedom & irony: random thoughts

okay, so a day late, id like to thank the troops for fighting for my freedom. thats not a yoke, either. theyre "brave" enough to defend their country and the rights of its citizens. i only put brave in quotations b/c there is a certain degree of ignorance and/or stupidity inherent in the decision to defend the rights of people you dont know, to the point of risking your life. is that rude of me? yeah, probably. but it's also accurate. anyways, thanks, b/c i wouldnt risk my life and freedom to defend your rights or the rights of others. obviously.

i got an interesting piece of mail earlier this week. to summarize, it said "your [credit card] statement is now available to view online. this notification is part of the all-electronic program you enrolled in to receive your statements online only instead of in the mail." anyways, it goes on to give me some more details on ensuring that i continue to get my statement notifications, etc.
now, correct me if im wrong, but isnt the point of these all-electronic things to save on paperwork and the use of paper (hug a tree, you dirty granolas). so, im baffled. what part of me receiving a paper notification fits in with the "all electronic" option?
