america: the new nazi germany

okay, i am glib. i may be beyond glib, as far as all of this goes...but im gonna say it anyways

arent a majority of modern nations actually more similar to nazi germany than most of us would care to acknowledge? we're all a little disenchanted by the status quo...this disenchantment leaves us a little vulnerable to the power of media and the power of suggestion it espouses.
think about it- we do it in regard to pretty much every nation in the world. whether it is the government telling us things directly, or the government leaks "intelligence" to various media outlets, a certain agenda gets passed that plays directly on our fears and our ethnocentrism.

"what? i'm not ethnocentric!" save it, gandhi...we're all inherently ethnocentric, to some degree, so i dont wanna hear it

here's the thing, though...*they* are doing the same thing. why do you think people are willing to give their life to take down our buildings or even end the world in nuclear holocaust? b/c the powers that be tell them certain things about us (some truth, some not) that piss them off, and they use their strong religious beliefs to further support the anti-american sentiment.

so, if we say they have nukes or theyre treating people inhumanely, is this really why we want to invade? maybe we are just scared of them...maybe we're afraid theyre going to cut off our oil. is this really that different from blaming the jews for society's ills? both were a threat to the respective societies' relative autonomy [and perhaps the economy as well], right?

i think 9/11 pretty much gave carte blanche to the government to go nazi germany style on us...we should just consider ourselves lucky that GW isnt a more eloquent and captivating orator, or we might all be goose-stepping and muttering things like "the night time is the right time"
